There were so many times I was so confident I had the right answer only to be totally dunked on. Though the original mechanics remain the same (build up your stats through interactions with the characters), it’s actually harder than I expected. One problem Monster Prom had was that it was fairly easy to figure out what you needed to do and say to get whatever you wanted, but I’ve already found it to be much harder with Monster Camp. Who knew murder could be so much fun? Difficulty It makes you want to select the worst option possible just to see what happens. I can’t even have a mean sim without feeling awful! In this game though, being your worst self is not only encouraged, but celebrated.

I’m one of those people who struggle to choose the mean conversation choices for NPCs. Monster Prom 2 – Drink MenuĪnother thing I adore about this game is the fact that it forces you out of your comfort zone. Additionally, since it’s still new, there will be updates in the future that will add new features and expand on the current version, which is super exciting. Many games can get dull once you’ve completed it the first time, but you’re always learning new things about the universe, camp, and characters themselves. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next! With over 1,000 possible events, it’s a game that you can play through hundreds of times and never experience the exact same run twice. The situations are wacky and totally unpredictable. It’s hard to make me laugh out loud, but my abs were burning after just a few rounds. This game features impeccable comedic timing. You somehow took an already extremely campy game and somehow made it even more campy, both figuratively and literally! Better than Monster Prom! The music and sound effects create the perfect atmosphere and the dialogue is as sharp and witty as ever. Three cheers to the amazing people who worked on this game! The art is playful, vibrant, and engaging. I wasn’t actually sure if the crew could top themselves, but they totally did. I had so much fun playing the original and was a bit worried I might set my expectations too high to truly enjoy Monster Camp. Its predecessor, Monster Prom, was an incredible game with awesome storylines and amazing characters.
MONSTER PROM REVIEW SIMULATOR
Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is a single and multiplayer dating simulator that is as hilarious as it is shameless. Despite having a player made of shadow, one that can conjure fire, one that eats electricity and one that, I’d imagine, loves brains, their abilities never seem to come into play.Has quarantine given you cabin fever? How would you like to swap it out for a different kind of cabin fever? ? Well, good! Because at Camp Spooky, the days are hot, the monsters are hotter, and the supervision is nonexistent! The one thing that surprised me though is that the only thing picking a character seems to do is change the art. From there, you name your character and pick your preferred pronoun, which is an awesome touch. Then you pick a character from four monster people: a shadow being, a devilish imp, a surprisingly athletic-looking zombie and an adorable Frankenstein-inspired person. You determine how many players are going to play you can play solo or have up to four players. Imagine if Cards Against Humanity was also a dating sim. What I did not expect was to find it was a fun party game. I had no idea what to expect and it’s that curiosity that made me want to immediately dive in and see.

When I was told it was a multiplayer dating sim with online capabilities I was baffled. It makes absolutely no sense to an already crazy story but luckily it also makes the game a lot less creepy than I feared it would be.

Don’t worry, despite it being a game that takes place in high school, the youngest student is 23 and the oldest seems to be eternal. There is a Teen Wolf-inspired jock werewolf a princess of an undersea kingdom that uses serfs to do all her tasks for her a creature that was previously a Cthulu-like Lovecraftian horror diety that got bored and decided to take on the form of a high school girl and even a ghost who, despite lamenting not being able to eat, seems to constantly be on a quest for drugs and sex. The students themselves are all sorts of strange fantasy tropes with interesting twists.

In fact, the only teacher or facility that I was able to find after three playthroughs was a gym teacher. And the school structuring itself makes little to no sense. The game is set at a high school that features mostly students that are monsters.
